My Clebration Tees are becoming so popular and I love doing them for each and every little person that has had one ordered for them. I have also been making them to give to my daughters friends on their birthdays. Today a little girl in my daughter's preprimary class said hello Heidi followed by "I really like that t-shirt you sewed for me for my birthday, the one with my name on it". Wow, how delightful is that!

To Market, To Market! MADE ON THE LEFT!

I am so pleased to be preparing to have a stall at the 'Made on the Left' Market on Saturday the 25th July, 2009. This will be only my second experience, my first being at the St Hildas Bazaar on Sunday the 3rd of May, which was really good for the direct orders that have been generated and have kept me steadily busy this last month.

I had the pleasure of making a stripwork skirt recently for my close friend's daughter who apparently loves it so much that she wants to wear it to bed. This wonderful compliment just makes my heart sing! Thank you darling Erin!

I just love this little stripwork skirt (pattern by Pink Fig) and matching long sleeve tee. This skirt is quite simply the queen of twirly skirts and my little daughter just loves dancing in it, for all it's twirling ability. The fabrics I have used are a combination of lightweight chambray blue denim, red cotton drill, calico with appliqued red spotty heart, red and white cotton gingham, blue spotty cotton and the feature fabrics are by Australian designer Saffron Craig. I recently discovered her fabrics and craft panels online at Kelani Fabric Obsession, web address http://www.kelanifabric.com.au/. Kelani Fabric Obsession has a great range of fabric to choose from and I love the convenience of shopping for fabric at home.

For as long as I can remember, I was always sewing or crafting something with my gorgeously creative mum. It is her patchwork cushions, among many other handmade things, that I remember well. They adorned my bed and every other bed, lounge, settee, kitchen/dining chair or piece of garden furniture there was, furnishing our rather large farm house. Sometimes when we sat down we would discover that they still had pins in them and that became a bit of a joke. One summer holiday, I remember raiding her remnants bag with neighbouring friends, and we three girls, each made ourselves a fun and mine was frilly, patchwork skirt. When we went back to school after the holidays the patchwork skirts were a real hit and very quickly the demand for them was high. That is my earliest memory of making things for other people and how funny it is to think that twenty something years later, I find myself more inspired than ever to create and sew. And so, this is how Heartlove Designs has come into being. Late last year I started to applique and embellish pieces of clothing for my children and as christmas gifts for my god children and a handful of friends started to ask where one could buy such pieces. I reluctantly revealed that I was the one responsible for such creations and with their genuine interest and orders placed, my confidence has grown into a small homebased business called Heartlove Designs.
